English Week : Day 4 & 5

On the 4th day, which is Thursday, we had, for the Form 5s, highlight of the event for English Week - Debate.
Since 5H and 5P were the only classes that have participants for Debate, only the students of 5H and 5P were there to watch the debate. And man, they sure enjoy every single moment of the debate, because it was more like a sit-com rather than being all serious about arguing with the opposition.
The topic was on This House Believes That The Media Is Eroding Our Traditional Cultures.
This is the government team - 5H. And this is the opposition team - 5P. Just look at the differences between their expressions.
And so the debate started off with the 1st speaker from the government team.

"With this we can be sure that the media is slowly, but surely eroding our traditions." After that was the 1st speaker of the opposition, which exploded with cheers and laughter when titles of cartoon such as Bob The Builder, Postman Pat and Power Rangers were mentioned.
Then it was the 2nd speaker of the government team.

"Our media is corrupting our country!"
"POI!" (Point Of Information)
"Our country is already corrupted!" Then a wave of cheers swam through the hall.

"You know my place, Portuguese Settlement there always have San Pedro and Christmas celebrations every year and there will be young reporters interviewing about our culture. So the media is good!" Of course, if you want to talk professionally, 5H trashed 5P.
But if you want to talk a group of students who never been to debate before and have no clue on what is happening, didn't prepare their speeches, cheered by 5P students (and some of 5H too), and government boo-ed by the students, indirectly, 5P trashed 5H really hard.
I think this is the only debate where winning doesn't matter, instead, humour does. I mean... Yeah.

On the final day, Master Malaysia was held. It's like a game of monopoly, but instead of getting cashes and getting into jail, you answer questions like :
What is P.Ramlee's real name?
Which is the first temple built in Malaysia?
Torturing, I know.
The categories fall into Land, Culture, People, Heritage and General aka Risk.It was the event with the most participants. Mostly because they had no clue what the game's about and an excuse for them to skip classes.

Number of contestants. A student trying to understand the rules of the game. And a guy who completely knows what's going on. Briefing of the game's rules and how to play. Let the game begins! Overall, the game ended well with people tormented by the questions and some others who were lucky to get the easier ones. Well, everyone had fun.

Oh, almost forgot. On Thursday after school, Singing Competition was held. I should stop here.
